Alahovi Berry Farm
At the Alahovi Berry Farm, situated close to Kuopio, you can watch how berry wines are made, sample the wines, have a meal, and browse in the farm’s wine shop. Art exhibitions and a small domestic animal park. Alahovi can be reached by road or by boat, for example by joining a Wine Farm Cruise.
The shop is open during the wintertime Mon - Fri 9 am - 4 pm. From May to August open 9 am-9 pm.
The wine tavern open  29 Jun-14 Aug Tue-Sat 12 noon-9 pm, Sun 12 noon-5 pm. In the wintertime open to groups by appointment.

Jätkänkämppä Lumberjack Lodge
At Jätkänkämppä, a genuine lumberjack lodge, you can join in Traditional Finnish Evenings every Tuesday and May 28 - Aug 27 2009 also on Thursdays. The special evening entertainment, suitable for the whole family, includes bathing in a large smoke sauna, lumberjack shows, and a traditional meal with live background music played on the accordion. The menu comprises Pit Roast on Tuesdays and smoked fish on Thursdays.

Market Hall
The Market Hall has been selling local and imported products since 1902. The Art Nouveau style Market Hall building is one of the most precious buildings in Kuopio, and inside there are around 30 stalls. You'll find a good selection of speciality products in the Market Hall, topped off with friendly service.

Marketplace
The Marketplace is the indisputable hub of Kuopio in summer, where you can experience the traditional local atmosphere at its best. It is also an excellent place for shopping, with stalls offering a variety of fresh farm produce, beautiful handicrafts, and of course 'kalakukko' fish pies, the mouth-watering local speciality.

Pikku-Pietari Market Alley
Close to the Marketplace there is an idyllic Pikku-Pietari Market Alley, lined by old stables. In the atmospheric log buildings you will find a cafe with a terrace, art exhibitions and small boutiques. Work demonstrations on Mondays. Exhibitions in stables.

Puijo Tower
The vast panorama of an endless mosaic of blue lakes and green islands that can be seen from the Puijo Tower is a spectacle not to missed by anybody visiting Kuopio. The tower, situated about 1.5 kilometres from the city centre, has a revolving panoramic restaurant that serves local specialities. The tower and the hostel at the foot of it are surrounded by a unique primeval forest.

KAAVI:

The Telkkämäki Slash-and-Burn Heritage Farm
The buildings and farmyard of the Telkkämäki Slash-and-Burn Heritage Farm in Kaavi have been restored to their early 20th century shape. The conservation area surrounding the heritage farm can be freely explored on foot and there are also marked trails.

Unnukka Tourist Centre
Situated 54 km south of Kuopio on highway 5. The factory shops of Designor and Kerman Savi located at the Unnukka Tourist Centre offer top Finnish quality and design, including stainless steel items, china, ceramics and candles. The Pikku-Puoti Ilo-Olo shop stocks additive-free products for cooking and baking, as well as herb extracts and aroma products.

Aholansaari Island
An open-air museum depicting the life of Paavo Ruotsalainen, an influential Pietist preacher in Finland in the 19th century. The log-built home of Paavo Ruotsalainen is part of the museum. There is a regular water-bus service to Aholansaari in summer, 1 Jun-1 Aug.
Open to the public throughout the year Mon - Sun 8 am - 8 pm.
Admission is included in the waterbus fare of €5; children under 12 yrs free.
